Headed to Charleston this weekend for a bit of Piccolo Spoleto? Then don't miss Fine Arts Center alumna violinist Kelly Hall-Tompkins performing in the Spotlight Concert Series on Friday, June 24, 2013, as part of the Orlando Chamber Soloists. The group will delight the senses with Scottish Airs and Fantasies, a collection of "lush interpretations of romantic favorites." A Greenville native, Kelly graduated from FAC in 1990 and now resides in NYC and is a professional violinist.
The National Dance Education Organization has announced that
Mireille Fehler, a junior at Eastside High School and student at The Fine Arts
Center, has been selected by the National Honor Society for Dance Arts as a winner of the 2013 NDEO Artistic Merit,
Leadership, and Academic Achievement Award.
Mireille received the recognition based on the following criteria: Artistic Merit: The candidate demonstrates technical and
artistic excellence in dance as evidenced by performing original
choreography and a choreography essay. Leadership: The candidate demonstrates outstanding leadership
in and outside the field of dance at the school, community, state,
and/or national level as evidenced by a strong resume, recommendation
letter and leadership essay. Academic Achievement: The candidate demonstrates academic
excellence with a high cumulative grade point average and two essays
detailing future plans and the impact of dance.
In addition, NDEO recognized Jan Woodward, Dance Instructor at The Fine
Arts Center, for outstanding teaching, leadership, and guidance. A list
